The Conference Minister assists with the oversight ministry at the conference level. Assistance includes credential processes and record-keeping, pastor search coaching, interim pastor placement, bishop search processes, coaching for bishops, and conflict mitigation coaching.
The Conference Minister sits on the Credentialing Commission and creates and provides the credentialing packets used by the Credentialing Commission. The Conference Leadership Information forms are filed and maintained by this office.
The Conference Minister also oversees the compilation process of the data for the Continuing Education efforts by all leaders in Lancaster Mennonite Conference and presents the report to the Credentialing Commission. The pastor/leader reporting form can be accessed here.
As a response to the Child Protection Law changes in 2014, the Conference Minister also serves as connecting point for leaders about child abuse education and getting new leaders current in their checks for meeting legal and Conference requirements. A very brief summary of child protection procedures can be found here. After new leaders have provided there first child protection checks to the Credentialing Commission, the local congregation becomes responsible to maintain those checks on the required five year cycle.
